CDLP Staff present at Leeds Disability Studies Conference

Prof. Eilionóir Flynn and Dr János Fiala-Butora presented some of their work at the Leeds Disability Studies. The conference, organised by the Centre for Disability Studies at the University of Leeds, explored the theme ‘Navigating the Changing Landscape of Disability/Studies’.

Dr. János Fiala-Butora's presentation was 'Implementing the Right to Decide: A Framework for Supporting the Legal Capacity of Persons with Severe Disabilities' drawing on his recently published book and ongoing research in the area. Prof. Eilionóir Flynn presented alongside Prof. Beverley Clough on their new project 'Disability Judgements: Cripping Justice and Disabled Imaginaries'. Eilionóir and Beverley are working on the Disability Judgements project with Prof. Anna Lawson.

Dr Clíona de Bhailís appeared before the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Disability Matters in May regarding a representative advocacy service for children with disabilities alongside Inclusion Ireland and EPIC - Empowering People in Care . Clíona presented research exploring the need for a representative advocacy service for children with intellectual disabilities in Ireland completed by the CDLP for Inclusion Ireland in 2024.
