One of the most important parts of choosing a research programme is finding a supervisor who has relevant expertise in your area of interest. When you find a supervisor who, or a project that aligns with your research interests, you should make contact with the relevant potential supervisor/lecturer/Professor or University of Galway staff member to discuss matters further. They can also advise you on how to apply to become a research student at University of Galway.

To help you find potential supervisors/PhD projects and identify the key research interests of our academic staff and researchers, you can use the ‘Search’ facility of the Research portal view who is currently accepting PhD students, filter list of profiles based on Research Unit, Time Period, Concepts and Sustainable Development Goals.   A step-by step process is outlined below.

Scroll down, and you will see a filter available on the left side of the screen (Accepting Phd Students), tick this box and you will then see profiles of those who are currently accepting PhD students that are related to your keyword search.

Alternative methods to find a supervisor include searching for names or topics linked to Galway on your web search engine or using research databases such as ORCID, Web of Knowledge, ResearcherID, SciVal, Proquest, Academia.edu or Google Scholar.
