PhD student

Domonique Gillen graduated from University College of Cork with a MSc in marine Biology where she worked on cephalopod distribution in the Gulf of Mexico. Her PhD research focuses on life histories of the commercial squid species Loligo forbesii with regard to micro cohorts and Alternative Reproductive Tactics (ARTs). Domonique is using statolith microstructure analysis to unveil differences in size-at-age caused by divergent growth rates due to hatching season or ART. This data will provide insight vital for data-driven and sustainable fisheries management.
