Research Assistant: SeaForest project

Ryan is a Research Assistant with the SeaForest project, joining the team from Newfoundland, Canada. He holds a Master of Science in Marine Biological Resources and brings a strong background in applied marine ecology and conservation. His previous work includes coral restoration, marine mammal monitoring, and behavioural research on basking sharks (Cetorhinus maximus) along the Irish coast. As a PADI Divemaster, he will play a key role in supporting fieldwork activities, principally underwater biodiversity surveys. Ryan is particularly interested in the conservation and sustainable management of marine ecosystems, and his work with the SeaForest project will focus on assessing the biodiversity and ecological value of kelp forests to inform evidence-based protection strategies.
