University of Galway is committed to ensuring that the university population reflects the general population and that students are supported to succeed by providing tailored supports for those who experience more barriers than others. We have many specialist supports including supports for students with disabilities, mature students, international students, students from ethnic minority groups and students who have experienced the care system. 

• Disability Support Service - Find out about the supports available to those who need it due to the impact of a disability, ongoing physical or mental health condition, or a specific learning difficulty.
• Access Centre - Working with students who have experienced socio-economic disadvantage, students with disabilities and mature students to create a supportive learning environment and succeed in third level education. 
• Mature Students - Find contact details for the Mature Students Officer, read the mature students guide and find information on upcoming events.
• EDI Race Equality Advisors - Act as the main point of contact for ethnic minority staff and students who experience incidents of racism and signpost to the appropriate report and support mechanisms. They offer confidential one-to-one appointments and you can refer to the contact details for the Race Equality Team on this link. • Educational Support Worker for Care Experienced Students: Betty Attwood can provide support, advocacy, and advice to University of Galway students who have lived in the care of the state for any period of time before the age of 18 years old. This can include kinship care, foster care, residential care, special care and/or anyone who has been adopted.
• Community Support Officer: Elaine Ryan provides pre and post entry support for Traveller and Roma students and can be contacted on email for one-to-one appointments. Email: elaine.m.ryan@universityofgalway.ie 
• Students Union Executives (Disability Rights Officer, Ethnic Minority, Gender And LGBT+ Rights Officer.) 
• International Office - Get in contact with the international office who are on hand to support you through the application and visa process, to welcome you on campus and helping you find your home away from home.
• DARE and HEAR Schemes - Learn about HEAR and DARE schemes that promote equity of access to higher education for students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds or students with a disability. 
• Cubbie Sensory Hub - Located upstairs in Áras Uí Chathail the Cubbie is a wheelchair accessible, multi-sensory, safe space for students and staff. It offers a personalised sensory audio/visual programme to help regulate emotions and feelings. The space can be used by one person at a time.
