Prateek Dixit is an accomplished R&D scientist with 10+ years of engineering experience specialising in early-stage medical device innovation, design and development, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional project management. With a background in Mechanical Engineering [BEng. MSc.] and BioInnovation [PGDip.], he has extensive experience driving novel medical technologies from concept to commercialisation.
As the Principal Lead at Theia Eye Care (a University of Galway spin-out project), Prateek successfully secured over €1.5 million in funding and spearheaded the development of cutting-edge ophthalmic medical devices in the dry eye and glaucoma space. His expertise spans early-stage prototyping, design & development of novel medical devices, design verification & validation activities, human factors and usability engineering, as well as risk management under ISO 13485 and FDA regulatory frameworks. He has collaborated with multiple stakeholders which include international clinicians, expert researchers, patent attorneys, regulatory bodies, investors and funders towards the development and scaling up of novel medical technologies.
Previously, Prateek held senior engineering and R&D positions at Merit Medical (Ireland), Crimson Healthcare (India), and Thornton Tomasetti (USA), gaining hands-on experience in medical device design & development, manufacturing, and biomechanics across three continents.
