University of Galway School of Law are keen to ensure that the brightest and most committed students progress to postgraduate study.

Postgraduate Excellence Scholarships

University of Galway has generous scholarships valued at €1,500 for EU students applying for full-time taught master's postgraduate courses.

You will be eligible if you have:

  • been accepted to a full-time taught master's course at University of Galway,
  • have attained a first class honours (or equivalent) in a Level 8 primary degree.

School of Law Global Scholarship

Our School of Law Global Scholarship recognises academic excellence and is for international Non-EU students who apply for and accept a place on our postgraduate taught programmes. The scholarship provides up to 50% of the programme tuition fee to high-achieving student(s).

How to Qualify:

✔ Accept your offer on one of our taught postgraduate programmes
✔ Pay the required deposit to secure your place

Eligibility: This scholarship is a merit based scholarship and applicants with a First Class Honours Degree (Grade 1) will be considered. To find out the equivalency of a First Class Honours (Grade 1) visit our Global Galway website.

How to Apply: No application required, you will automatically be considered provided you accept a place on one of our postgraduate taught programmes before the scholarship closing date.

Closing Date: 30th April 2026. Successful applicants will be notified in early June 2026.

Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships

The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship (GOI-IES) programme supports high-calibre international students who wish to study at NFQ levels 9 or 10 (master’s, postgraduate diploma or PhD) in Ireland. The programme is funded by the Government of Ireland in partnership with Irish higher education institutions (HEIs) and managed by the Higher Education Authority.  The scholarship consists of a stipend amounting to €10,000 and full fee waiver.

Ireland Fellows Programme 

The Ireland Fellows Programme enables early to mid-career professionals from eligible countries, with leadership potential, to benefit from a prestigious, world-class, quality education contributing to capacity building. It offers selected students the opportunity to undertake a fully funded one-year master’s level programme at a higher education institution (HEI) in Ireland. The award covers programme fees, flights, accommodation and living costs.
