What Our Students Say
Katie Scrivener | 5MB Medical Student 2026
My time in Mayo Academy was memorable and cherished not only for the clinical and academic opportunities it provided, but also for the experiences beyond formal training. From trips to Westport to sea swimming throughout the winter, it stands out as one of the best years of my medical education. The chance to spend a full year in a peripheral hospital is a unique opportunity offered by the University of Galway, and one that I would strongly encourage all medical students, or those considering applying, to consider.
Clare Reidy | 4MB Medical Student 2026
I was initially apprehensive of moving to Castlebar for my academy placement, but the academy staff and the people of Mayo could not have been more welcoming. Being based in a smaller hospital made it easy to integrate into clinical teams and gain valuable hands-on experience. The architectural beauty of the Mayo Medical Academy also provides an inspiring and motivating environment in which to study.
