Obstetrics & Gynaecology

The Discipline of Obstetrics & Gynaecology is committed to excellence, innovation and collaboration. The discipline delivers high quality teaching to School of Medicine medical students in Galway and affiliated medical academies in Donegal, Sligo, Mayo and Ballinasloe. The staff comprises of a Professor, Senior Lecturer, five Lecturers (based in both Galway and the medical academies) and an Administrator.

The discipline teaches the OBGYN module in Year 4 of the undergraduate medical programme. The discipline has a long track record in postgraduate education with an extensive range of research themes, including: Preterm Labour Myometrial Physiology, Placental Biology, Fetal Disorders, Molecular Aspects of Parturition and Obstetrics and Cerebral Palsy.
