Saoirse Ellis

Saoirse Ellis is a PhD candidate at the Molecular Parasitology Laboratory (MPL). She completed her undergraduate degree in Biology and Psychology at Durham University in 2022, followed by a Master’s degree in Parasitology and Pathogen Biology at Queen’s University, Belfast in 2023. She then worked as a technician in The Animal & Grassland Research and Innovation Centre, Teagasc, Athenry. Here she collaborated with the MPL in the ongoing liver fluke vaccine trials and with the development of diagnostic tests for the diagnosis of liver fluke infection (fasciolosis) in cattle and sheep. She has now joined the MPL as a PhD candidate investigating the host immune response to vaccination against and infection with Fasciola hepatica (liver fluke).
